If it is toasting crumpets than you need something like that grill, but I got a little confused by the mention of the aluminium plate (incidentally we use a couple of cast iron plates on a 2 burner device like that, one is big enough to cover both burners and one is half the size) as that is basically just providing a BBQ plate and while that is a useful thing, it won’t do toast very well. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">As for us, well if we are bush then we use an open fire and a toasting fork (knocked up from coathanger wire) and we put the legs down on the cast iron BBQ plate and cook over the coals.
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">If we are in a van park then we just plug in a toaster (cheapie from The Warehouse, only ten dollars or so) and run with that.
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">We have a grill in the cooktop inside the van, but it is close to useless – better than your K-Mart device, but 5 minutes a side for toast is not good enough.

That is only a problem if you decide to go off road and NEED that ground clearance – for towing duties or dirt road touring you don’t need to worry.
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">You should probably take a critical look at the suspension on the Cruiser as well. It is often not up to towing a heavy van without having some assistance. I’d be looking at some Polyair spring assists and a set of new dampers at the very least.
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">Enjoy!

My objective is to keep the weight to a minimium, relative to the length. Starting with open web trusses as chassis, designed to suit the length. Cladding with a product called Monopanel 25mm thick, walls, floor and roof.

Design layout is b/room over hitch, centre section living and kitchen, rear is bathroom, toilet and garage for my Honda Goldwing Motorcycle.

I wish to install a slideout 4 - 4.5 metres x 1.000 wide maximum in the living area. So far I have not found much in the way of reference material regarding Slideout mechanisms and hardware etc.

Power source will be 12volts primarily, but would consider all alternatives

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Regards,

TropicalGuyCns.

.
