Jeff her are a few links to what I did.
Antenna Buy one of these the connection at the end fits all patch cables. You might have to get a patch cable locally as there are numerous patch cables. Through fitting Then get one of these, I chucked the PVC bit on the cable away and I bring my TV and Internet connection through the same hole. Once you have all of that then get an aluminium adjustable paint roller extension (Big W was the cheapest in my area) and the cheapest paint roller you can buy. The next step it to cut the 6mm roller shaft about 50mm or so from the handle then get a piece of steel 3mm is big enough and the same size as the base of the antenna and weld it on and paint it. Now you are in business. Just fit the pole to the back of your van so you can remove it to get to the top put you antenna on there hoist it up thread the cable through the wall and away you go. |

Hi all, as we are travelling for three months and I didn't want a plan as when I go back home I am going Naked ADSL, opted for a telstra prepaid, I bought a turbo modem for 130.00 and a 20 .00 voucher to see how long it would last me, and I am still using it, first day of use was 1 July, and I use it everyday for about an hour (where there is coverage of course I have about 6 days that I couldnt get cover) I get very good coverage where you can use a mobile phone otherwise it is no go, but I think that would happen if you had a plan as well. My laptop is an ASUS notebook which is three years old and is a great little machine.

Hi everyone. Thanks for all your advise before we left. Just got back today after 6 weeks & it went to fast.
We ended up going telstra turbo pre paid. Paid $ 130 & it came with a bonus 1 gig. This didnt last long so bought 2 gig for $50. Still had 1 gig left when month was nearly up so just bought the cheapest top up[225 meg for $20] so that it would roll over & I wouldnt lose that gig. The only problem was I didnt realise the usage charge rate per megabite would go up to the higher rate of the 225 megabites which I just bought. Consequently I wont get get my full gig now. [ hope that makes sense]
We went as far as Harvey Bay & the only places that we had trouble with connection was Goulburne & Albury which surprised me. When i actualy got connection it was slower than dial up.
I will definately look into setting up an aerial for when we take off next time.
Its been a great experience traveling & cant wait to go again.
