Rottnest Island or Rotto as it is known locally is a jewel just 30 minutes of the coast directly out from Perth.
Run and controlled by the Rottnest Island Authority is
a must visit when coming to Perth. Buses run all day. A day ticket allows travellers to hop on and off at will. The only other transport allowed on the island is push bikes. They can be hired or you can BYO.
Rotto is famous for
the small marsupial, the Quokka that is a rat like animal only found on this island. The name of the island comes from the Quokka as the early explorers thought that they were rats hence Rattsnest Island became Rottnest Island.
Mandurah and Rockingham
On our way out of town we spent two nights at Manhurah as there was one more cousin to visit. This time Paul, Renee's cousin. Seems that they are everywhere these cousins. Went to Paul and Deb's place in
Rockingham for dinner and drinks, had a recovery day at the van park and we were back on the road for summer. The South West Corner, the South Coast and into Upland .....
